Governing Council

Governance in schools is the responsibility of the Governing Council. This incorporates:

  • The cooperative role of Governing Council and school staff.

  • School Management and governance are clearly separated.

  • The focus is on improving student learning outcomes.

  • The broad directions of BPS are set and monitored by Governing Council.

  • The site leader and staff are responsible for reporting.

  • Encouraging leadership within the schools; both staff and student.

The Governing Council meets twice a term and takes an active role within the school as much as possible. Kid’s Voice report to our meetings regularly and Governing Council takes on board their proposals.

We work closely with our school leadership to help set and monitor the direction of our school. Through our 12 parent reps we aim to involve the whole school community. BPS value a diverse representation on our Governing Council and encourage parents to participate and take an active role within our school.

The Governing Council is affiliated with the SA Association of State School Organizations (SAASSO).

Parent Involvement
The parents of the school do a magnificent job in helping the school by: Fundraising, catering on Sports Day, assisting with lost property and general assistance throughout the school.
There is a strong bond between the school and the local community.
We are strongly supported by our community and, in return, our students participate in community events and support many local activities. This is a bond that the school values!
